Silica FabricsHigh Temp Silica Fabrics
Pyroshield manufactures silica fabrics with different types of finish, thickness, weights and improving properties. Our qualified technicians and personnel is ready to consider a possibility of production of new types of fabrics for new perspective applications in accordance with the requirements of a new customer, terms of operation and fabric application.
Silica fabrics provide a wide range of applications as high temperature insulation practically in all the fields of industry because of low thermal conductivity, high resistance to the thermal shock, silica fabrics have superb electric insulation properties at high temperatures. These can be used for a long period of time without changing the properties at the temperature of 2000° F and a shorter period of time at temperatures exceeding that.
To improve the fabrics properties and increase the mechanical properties to increased thermal resistance the fabrics can be texterized. Additional thermal treatment of fabric is made for minimized shrinkage in applications where maintaining article dimensions while operation at high temperatures is necessary. Ultimately, application of the silica fabric will allow the user to achieve optimum durability while dramatically increasing the safety of the operating environment.

Thermal Performance
Pyro Shield products function effectively as a high temperature insulator and radiant heat shield. Pyro Shield will not melt or vaporize until temperatures exceed 3100°F (1704°C). Pyro Shield textiles will insulate continuously and retain their strength and flexibility to 1800°F (982°C). Beyond this temperature some embrittlement and shrinkage occurs, but Pyro Shield textiles will continue to provide thermal protection to 3100°F (1704°C). | | Last Updated on Thursday, 01 December 2011 17:04 | Silica Seals, Rope & TubingAll Silica Materials are fabricated to withstand temperatures up to 2000°F for intermittent use & 1800°F for continuous use. Fabricated from continuous filament silica, PyroSil SNM fibers have a uniform diameter of 8 microns. As a result, PyroSill SNM is non-respirable. Pyro Shield SNM is manufactured with 98% pure textile grade silica fiber needled together into blanket/felt form. SNM base fiber is made through a hot extrusion process yielding 6-11 micron, non-respirable fiber. This fiber is then processed to maximize thermal efficiency. SNM is incombustible, asbestos free, non-respirable, and contains no organic, or resinous binders. Typical applications include engine exhaust system insulation, hot industrial equipment insulation and many others.
